Lamine Yamal is not only changing his football, he is changing his look too. The 19-year-old Barcelona star appeared in Istanbul this week with a new small mustache that got fans talking on social media.
But the mustache was not the only thing that shocked people. His performance did.
On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, Barcelona played Galatasaray in the Champions League. Galatasaray scored first and the stadium was very loud. Then Yamal took over the game.
In the second half, Yamal gave two beautiful assists and helped Barcelona win 4-1. His second assist went viral. He faked a rabona cross behind his leg, left defender Eren Elmali on the ground, and then passed to Anthony Gordon to score. It was pure magic.
With that game, Lamine Yamal made history again. He now has 25 Champions League goal contributions (goals + assists) at just 19 years and 92 days old. The previous record was held by Kylian Mbappe who did it at 20 years and 306 days.
What people are saying:
- His teammate Fermin Lopez said: "He is the best in the world."
- Coach Hansi Flick said: "It's incredible to have players like that."
- Brazilian star Neymar posted Yamal's stats on Instagram and called him the best in the world.
- Barcelona fans online are now saying the mustache gave him senior man powers.
This season Yamal has 8 goals and 9 assists in just 10 games for Barcelona. He also won the World Cup with Spain in the summer and is now one of the favorites for the Ballon d'Or award coming up in London.
From a 15-year-old boy from La Masia to a Champions League record breaker with a new mustache, Lamine Yamal is truly on his way to becoming a legend.
