The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has filed a fresh lawsuit against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration.

According to reports on Monday, 26th October 2026, SERAP is suing the government over alleged failure to account for missing or diverted public funds.

In the suit filed at the Federal High Court, SERAP is asking the court to compel the government to probe and recover the funds and prosecute those involved.

SERAP said in a statement today that Nigerians have a right to know how public funds are spent and that failure to account for them is a violation of the constitution.

The group also asked the court to order the government to publish details of spending and ensure transparency.

This lawsuit comes as Nigeria's net foreign exchange flows hit $22.5 billion in Q2 2026, the highest since 2019, according to Central Bank of Nigeria data released today.

Many Nigerians on social media have reacted to the news, with some praising SERAP for holding government accountable.

The case is yet to be assigned to a judge.

More details to follow.
