President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have officially launched their re-election campaign for the 2027 presidential election, with a massive rally in Kaduna State targeting 56 million Northern voters.

The event which took place on Thursday at the Murtala Square in Kaduna drew thousands of supporters, party leaders, and traditional rulers from across the 19 Northern states. The APC said the North is very important for Tinubu's second term bid because it has the highest number of registered voters in the country.

According to INEC data, the Northern region has over 56 million voters out of the 93 million registered voters nationwide. The APC Campaign Council said their strategy is to visit every state in the North West, North East and North Central before December.

President Tinubu who was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Kaduna rally, promised to tackle insecurity, improve farming, and complete the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano railway if re-elected.

Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has challenged INEC to publish the preliminary voters' register to ensure transparency. Atiku said Nigerians need to see the register early to avoid rigging.

Political analysts say the battle for the North will decide who wins in January 2027, as both APC and the opposition G-100 coalition are focusing heavily on the region.

Do you think Tinubu can win the North again in 2027?
