The incident, which occurred on October 16, 2025, shows the 16-year-old victim being physically and verbally abused by a group of boys, reportedly members of the school's Rugby First Team, while other learners watched without intervening. The video, shared widely on social media, has led to the suspension of eight learners and a police investigation.
The victim, who recently has been fighting cancer, has reportedly asked to be home-schooled due to the trauma caused by the attack. His mother has accused the school of failing to protect her son despite previous reports of bullying.
The Western Cape Department of Education has confirmed the eight learners involved have been suspended pending disciplinary hearings.The school has also launched an investigation and is providing support to the student.
The eight students, with ages between 17 and 19 has appeared in Cape Town Magistrate court on October 23 2025,facing charges of assault with to several body damage/harm
