Many Nigerians want to stay healthy but do not know that simple morning habits can improve their daily life. Health experts say how you start your morning can affect your energy and mood for the whole day.

The first habit is drinking water early in the morning. After sleeping for several hours, the body needs water to function well. A glass of water in the morning helps to wake up the body and improve digestion. It also helps to keep the skin healthy and fresh.

The second habit is eating a healthy breakfast. Breakfast gives the body energy to start the day. A good  breakfast should include fruits, whole grains and protein. Fruits like banana, orange, mango and watermelon provide vitamins. Foods like oats, beans and eggs give energy that lasts longer. Skipping breakfast can make you feel tired and weak during the day.

The third habit is light exercise or stretching. You do not need to go to the gym every morning. Simple stretching, walking for 15 minutes or doing press ups at home can improve blood flow. Exercise helps to strengthen the heart and reduce stress. It also helps to improve sleep at night.

The fourth habit is getting enough sleep and waking up early. Adults need about 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night. Good sleep helps the body to rest and repair. Waking up early gives you time to plan your day without rushing. People who rush in the morning often feel stressed.

The fifth habit is maintaining good personal hygiene. Brushing teeth twice daily, washing hands regularly and bathing daily help to prevent infections. Clean environment also helps to stay healthy. Keeping your room and kitchen clean reduces risk of malaria and other diseases.

Health experts also advise reducing intake of sugary drinks and excessive alcohol. They advise eating more vegetables and drinking more water during the day. They also advise regular medical check ups at least once a year.

A healthy lifestyle does not require a lot of money. Small daily habits like drinking water, eating fruits, walking and sleeping well can make a big difference. Consistency is the key to staying healthy and active.

If you feel any unusual symptoms like persistent headache, fever or chest pain, it is important to visit a hospital or health centre for proper medical attention.
