Many people ask me, how do you manage N30,000 in this hard economy? My answer is simple: I budget before the money comes. I don't budget after I have spent.

Here is how I share my N30,000 every month in Warri. First, I give God 10 percent - N3,000 for offering. God comes first, always. Second, I save N5,000 immediately. I put it inside my Kolo or my PalmPay locked savings. I don't touch it, even if hunger wants to kill me. That is my emergency money.

Third, I keep N12,000 for food. I cook at home, I don't eat outside. One pot method saves gas and time. I buy rice, beans, garri, oil, and small fish. It lasts me whole month.

Fourth, N5,000 for transport and data. I trek short distances to save transport. I use MTN night data plan, cheaper.

Fifth, N5,000 for house needs like soap, recharge, and small needs. If any money remains, I keep it as extra savings.

I write everything in my small notebook. Since I started this budget in January, I have not borrowed money from anybody. You too can do it. Start with what you have. God is faithful.
