The Federal Government has approved a N70,000 transport intervention for Nigerian workers following a meeting with the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC on Tuesday.
According to reports, the agreement was reached during a conciliation meeting between the FG and organized labour aimed at reducing hardship facing workers.
The government also agreed to pay 19 months salary arrears owed to health workers across the country.
The NLC said the transport support will help workers cope with high cost of transportation following fuel subsidy removal.
The meeting which was held on October 28 2026 was attended by top government officials and labour leaders.
Workers across the country are now waiting for official announcement on when the payment will start and how it will be implemented.
The N70,000 transport allowance is different from minimum wage and will be paid monthly to help workers with transport costs.
Many Nigerians have reacted on social media with some praising the move while others say government should do more.
More details about payment date will be announced soon by the Federal Government.
