America is heading for crucial midterm elections on November 3, 2026, which will decide control of Congress and shape the last two years of President Trump's second term.

Republicans currently hold a slim 52-48 Senate majority and 220-215 House majority. Democrats need to flip just 3 House seats and 2 Senate seats to take control. Polls show a tight race, with economy, immigration and abortion as top issues.

President Donald Trump, in his final term, is campaigning heavily for Republicans, warning that a Democrat Congress would impeach him again. Democrats led by Hakeem Jeffries argue for checks and balances and protection of healthcare.

Key battlegrounds include Arizona, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Georgia for Senate, and California, New York and Texas suburbs for House. Over $2 billion has been spent on ads, making it the most expensive midterm ever.

Early voting has started, with 40 million ballots already cast. Turnout is expected to exceed 60 percent, high for midterms.

The outcome will impact US foreign policy on Ukraine, China tariffs and climate. World markets are watching Washington closely.
