The World Is Changing Us—Are We Becoming Better?

1. The World We Knew Is Disappearing

Have you ever looked around and wondered, “What is happening to people these days?”

The world is moving fast. Technology is advancing, lifestyles are changing, and things that once seemed unusual are becoming normal.

But something else is happening: people are changing too.

The way we communicate, love, make friends, earn money, and judge success is not what it used to be.

Are we becoming better, or are we simply learning how to survive in a changing world?

2. Everybody Wants to Succeed, But Nobody Wants to Struggle

Today, many people want financial freedom, a comfortable life, and the chance to make their dreams come true.

There is nothing wrong with that.

The problem begins when success becomes a competition. People start comparing their lives with what they see online.

Someone posts a new car. Another shows an expensive holiday. Someone else displays a life that looks perfect.

Suddenly, an ordinary person may begin to feel unsuccessful, even when they are making honest progress.

But remember this: you cannot measure your entire life against somebody else's best moments.

Some people are growing quietly. Others are struggling behind beautiful pictures.

Not everything that shines tells the whole story.

3. Technology Has Brought Us Closer—and Sometimes Further Apart

We can now speak to someone thousands of kilometres away in seconds.

We can learn new skills, find opportunities, start businesses, and share our ideas with the world using a phone.

That is real progress.

Yet, we can spend hours online and still feel lonely. We can have hundreds of online friends but struggle to find someone who genuinely listens.

The 2026 World Happiness Report examined the relationship between internet habits and well-being. Its findings suggest that the effects of social media are not the same everywhere, and the way people use it matters.

Technology is a powerful tool. But it cannot replace every human connection.

Sometimes, the person sitting beside you needs your attention more than the person waiting for your reply online.

4. Money Is Changing Relationships

Money has always mattered in life, but financial pressure can make relationships more complicated.

Some people feel valued only when they can provide something. Others hide their struggles because they fear being judged.

Friendships can become competitions. Relationships can become negotiations. Even family members may misunderstand one another when money is involved.

Still, we should not conclude that everyone has become selfish.

Many people remain kind, generous, loyal, and willing to help others without expecting anything in return.

The important question is this: when money, beauty, popularity, and status disappear, what remains of the relationship?

That is where character begins to matter.

5. Why Are People Becoming More Impatient?

We live in a time when many things happen instantly.

Messages arrive immediately. Videos play with one tap. Information is available within seconds.

But real life does not always work that way.

Building a career takes time. Trust takes time. Healing takes time. Becoming good at something takes practice.

When we expect everything immediately, ordinary progress can begin to feel like failure.

The truth is that not every delay means you are losing.

Sometimes, you are learning. Sometimes, you are preparing. And sometimes, the best thing you can do is continue working without rushing your life to match somebody else's timetable.

6. We Must Decide What Kind of People We Want to Become

The world will continue changing.

New technologies will emerge. New opportunities will appear. Some traditions will disappear, while new ways of living will develop.

We cannot control every change, but we can choose how we respond.

We can use technology to learn instead of only comparing ourselves with others.

We can pursue money without losing our honesty.

We can protect our peace without becoming cruel.

We can grow stronger without forgetting kindness.

And we can change our minds when we discover that our old ways were wrong.

Progress is not only about having better phones, bigger houses, or more money. It is also about becoming wiser, more responsible, and more considerate of other people.

7. The Question We Should All Ask Ourselves

Perhaps the world is not simply becoming better or worse.

Perhaps it is giving us more choices, more pressure, more opportunities, and more reasons to think carefully about the lives we want to live.

The real danger is allowing the world to change us so much that we forget our values.

So, while chasing your dreams, do not forget your character.

While looking for success, do not forget your happiness.

And while moving forward, do not forget the people who genuinely care about you.

The world is changing. People are changing. But we still have a choice about the kind of people we become.

What do you think?

Are people becoming more selfish because of the changing world, or are we simply seeing human nature more clearly than before?
