The Igbo god of the sun ( Anyanwu)

 

The name Anyanwu is derived from two Igbo words , Anya meaning eye and anwu meaning the light. The the name literally put together is (The eye of the light) but it's literally known to be the sun . The Anyanwu sun is said to be very supreme and has the power of insight, foresight and future foretell , it's ability is associated with seeing the future and foresight of things that are yet to happen. 

It has the insight that's the ability to see things as they really are, and then foresight ability to see things as the will be. Then in this case the god Anyanwu has the ability of influencing people with the power of insight and foresight .

 

The Anyanwu deity is a mode of worship designed by the igbos to honour the Sun and the drive behind it for generously spreading light and heat across the earth to make it habitable for humans. It also shows how significant the sun is to the igbos as their means of telling time is based on it and it helped put them in shape and seasons
