A devastating explosion occurred early Friday morning at a munitions facility in Tennessee, with nearly 20 people feared dead. The blast took place around 7:50 a.m. local time at the Accurate Energetic Systems plant, located in Bucksnort, Hickman County.
Emergency officials reported that 19 employees are currently unaccounted for. The explosion was so powerful that residents miles away felt the shockwave and heard the blast. Authorities are concerned about the possibility of additional explosions and have urged the public to stay clear of the area while emergency crews continue their response.
Federal agencies, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), have been dispatched to investigate the incident. The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined.
Accurate Energetic Systems, founded in 1980, produces high-grade explosives for both military and commercial use. The facility spans 1,300 acres and includes eight production buildings and a quality control laboratory. The company specializes in products ranging from linear shaped charges to claymore mines.
This is not the first time the site has experienced a serious incident. In 2014, a previous explosion at the same location resulted in one fatality and three injuries.
Authorities continue to assess the damage and search for missing individuals. Updates are expected as the investigation progresses.https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15181507/explosion-tennessee-bomb-factory-accurate-energetic-systems.html
