Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has vowed that kidnappers will have no hiding place if he is elected president in 2027.
Speaking in Yenagoa on Friday during the commissioning of the NDC party secretariat, Obi said he would personally enter the bush to rescue abducted citizens and ensure that no Nigerian lives in fear.
"Kidnappers will have no hiding place. I will go into the bush myself to rescue abducted children," Obi declared to a cheering crowd of supporters and party faithful.
He lamented the worsening security situation across the country, noting that many communities in the North, South-East, and Niger Delta now live under constant threat of bandits and kidnappers.
Obi criticized the Tinubu administration for what he described as excessive borrowing without results and a failure to secure the lives and property of citizens despite huge security votes.
He promised that under his leadership, security would be his top priority, with massive investment in intelligence gathering, community policing, and equipping the military to flush out criminals from their hideouts.
The former Anambra governor added that Nigeria needs a leader with compassion and courage, who is ready to make personal sacrifices to restore peace, unity, and hope to the nation.
