Cristiano Ronaldo's story with Portugal is not finished yet — even at 41.
After the 2026 World Cup, many thought it would be his last dance. Ronaldo said: "I still believe that I'm able to help the national team... not only through the goals, but also outside of football."
WHAT HAPPENED:
During the 2026-27 Nations League, Ronaldo left the camp before the Denmark game following a disagreement with new head coach Jorge Jesus. The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) opened disciplinary proceedings.
FPF President Pedro Proenca said: "The Federation, the coach, all the teammates are aligned: we want Cristiano back. I expect him back already during the November international break."
THE NEXT MOVE:
1. November Return: Expected on Nov 14 vs Denmark and Nov 17 vs Wales after a short suspension.
2. Chasing 1000 Goals: He has 980 career goals, just 20 away from 1000. He wants to score his 1000th goal in Portugal colours at Estadio da Luz.
3. Mentor Role: As captain with the 'CAPITÃO' armband, his role now is leadership for the young generation.
For Portugal, the question is no longer if the legend returns, but when — and November 2026 looks like the answer.
