Dr. Sebi, born Alfredo Bowman in November 1933 in Ilanga, Honduras, was an herbalist healer and self-proclaimed healer, who practiced in Honduras and the United States. He claimed to have cured many diseases, including AIDS, cancer, diabetes, and other illnesses, using herbs and a vegan diet based on various African and indigenous healing traditions.
Dr. Sebi studied herbs in Africa, the Caribbean, North America, and Central and South America. In Mexico he met an herbalist who alleviated all of his health issues. Dr. Sebi then developed his own healing methodology, which he called the “African Bio-Electric System.”
Dr. Sebi traveled to the United States in the early 1980s and practiced in New York and Los Angeles. In the late 1980s, he was arrested in New York and charged with “practicing medicine without a license.” After a lengthy legal battle, he was found not guilty of all charges by a jury.
Dr. Sebi's fame grew throughout the 1990s and 2000s, mostly as a result of word-of-mouth and media attention. He became a popular alternative medicine figure and was featured in documentaries and television interviews. His teachings were based on the concept of “electric cell food” and he marketed his own blends of natural herbs and minerals. He also had a few books published, such as 'African Bio Mineral Balance' and ‘The Healing Diet'.
Dr. Sebi was an outspoken critic of modern medical practices and believed that diseases could be cured through his healing methods. He had a strong following and gained the support of celebrities such as Michael Jackson and Bobby Brown.
In 2016, Dr. Sebi was arrested in Honduras on charges of money laundering. While in police custody, he suddenly died of pneumonia. His death has been shrouded in controversy and sparked a number of conspiracy theories, with many of his supporters believing that he was murdered.
Dr. Sebi's legacy lives on in the form of his healing methods and teachings, which continue to be shared by his followers and supporters. He has become an icon in the world of alternative medicine, and his work continues to inspire and influence people all over the world.
