Kerinci Regent Visits Migrant Worker Assault Victim in Malaysia
KERINCI – Kerinci Regent, Monadi, has shown his concern by visiting Dahlia, a migrant worker from Koto Lebuh Tinggi Village, Siulak District, who was allegedly assaulted by her employer in Malaysia. The visit took place on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.
Dahlia has now returned to her hometown but is still suffering from physical injuries and psychological trauma. The local government stepped in to provide moral support and ensure her condition receives serious attention.
Regent Monadi was accompanied by the Head of the Social Affairs Office, Juanda Sasmita, Head of the Manpower Division of the Kerinci Manpower and Transmigration Office, Suhaidir, Siulak Subdistrict Head, Sutan Nurman, village officials, and the Coordinator of P4MI Jambi. Their presence underscored the government’s commitment to protecting migrant workers.
“We have provided a wheelchair and recovery supplies as a sign of our concern. We will continue to assist her until she recovers,” Monadi stated.
The Kerinci Regency Government will also coordinate with relevant parties to ensure Dahlia’s legal rights are fulfilled, including efforts to protect and prevent similar cases in the future.
Monadi urged residents to be cautious before working abroad. “Make sure all documents are complete and use official channels to be protected from risks,” he emphasized.
“This case is a lesson for all of us. Let’s work together to safeguard the safety of our migrant workers,” he concluded.
