I Checked My Opay For NERSI ₦50,000- see what I saw

I woke up this morning and my WhatsApp was full. Everybody was sending one link: "FG ₦50,000 Opay Grant, Click Here To Claim."

I almost clicked it. Thank God I did not.

I went to Google and I found the truth, and I want to share it with you so you will not lose your money to scammers.

There IS a real ₦50,000 from Federal Government. It is called NERSI - National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention. It started on 30th October 2026. It is for poor and vulnerable households in Nigeria.

But here is the part scammers don't want you to know:

1. You CANNOT apply for it. Government picks you from National Social Register using your NIN. If you are not picked, you are not picked.

2. Government NEVER sends a link. The real NERSI page says "The programme never sends links." Any link you see on WhatsApp is fake.

3. It is FREE. Nobody will ask you to pay ₦1,000 to unlock your ₦50,000. That is scam.

So how do you check if you are picked?

I did it myself this morning. Open your REAL Opay app, not from any link. If you are picked, you will see a pop-up on your homepage saying "FG ₦50,000 NERSI". Click only that pop-up inside the app.

If you don't see any pop-up, you are not picked yet.

You can also dial _955_20# on your phone and choose Check Eligibility. If it says "You are currently not selected", that is not scam, it just means not your turn.

Please, do not share your PIN, OTP or BVN with anybody claiming to help you get this money. Opay said they will NEVER ask for your PIN or OTP.

I have seen people lose their last ₦5,000 in Opay because they clicked a fake link. Don't be the next.
