Almost Married to the Wrong Man: Chapter 31

Chapter 31 Addicted to acting.

This time, Kane was taken aback.

If she had continued to resist, Kane would have thought it was normal. But now, not only was she cooperating, she was also suggesting something thrilling. This was unexpected.

"Are you serious?" Kane asked, still skeptical.

"You've already tied me up like this. What tricks could I possibly pull?" Callie tried to make her expression look relaxed and cheerful.

Kane stared at her for several seconds.

Perhaps driven by curiosity, he picked up her bag.

He actually found the pills inside.

Kane held them in his hand, reading the label. It said Viagra.

Callie smiled and said, "See? I wasn't lying."

"Why would you carry something like this with you?" Kane frowned deeply.

She always gave off an impression of being proper and pure, her appearance was that of an innocent girl. Could she have a wild side too?

"Do you really think I'm a good girl? With you, I've always been playing hard to get. Hurry up and take it, so we can have some real fun!" Callie smiled, her beauty even more radiant when she did.

Kane looked at her, feeling a rush of excitement. He poured out a pill and swallowed it.

"Take one more," Callie said.

"You're wild, aren't you?" Kane smirked mischievously, but still took another pill and swallowed it.

He was quite the tough guy, washing it down with red wine.

Callie's eyes were cold, though she kept a smile on her face.

She stared at Kane, mentally counting down.

"This stuff is pretty strong. I'm feeling a bit dizzy..." Kane's body started to feel weak, and he sat down on the bed.

Soon, he realized something was wrong. Shouldn't the pill make him feel more energetic and powerful?

Why did he feel so weak and limp?

"This isn't a stimulant!" he glared at Callie angrily, "What kind of pill is this?"

Callie responded coldly, "Didn't you say 'third time's the charm'? Looks like you fell for it again."

Kane wanted to grab a knife and cut this woman to pieces!

Feed her to the dogs!

"Callie Norris, you better remember this..."

Before he could finish his threat, he completely lost consciousness and passed out.

Callie glanced at him, making sure he was out cold, then moved to get her phone from her bag.

The pill was actually a sedative she had prepared for a previous meeting with Harrison, in case things went south. She had deliberately put it in a Viagra box so that if anyone saw it, they wouldn't suspect it was a sedative.

It was a diversion.

As it turned out, the person was Shane, so the drug wasn't used.

Luckily, it wasn't used; otherwise, she wouldn't have escaped his clutches this time.

She grabbed her phone and immediately dialed Gabriel's number.

Before the call could connect, she heard noises at the door.

Multiple footsteps, accompanied by the sound of things being thrown and cries of pain, followed by the door being kicked open!

She looked up to see Shane, his face dark and stormy.

He stood under the light, exuding an intimidating aura, his shadow casting a menacing presence.

At that moment, seeing him felt like grabbing a lifeline for Callie. She was overjoyed. ""I’m glad you are here!""

Shane didn't respond. He strode over and untied the ropes binding her.

When she hadn't returned, and he thought she had gone to meet another man. He had checked and found out she had been taken by Kane.

He had tracked her all the way here, using many connections.

He was afraid he would be too late and that Kane would succeed.

Soon, he noticed the bottle of pills on the table, the bold letters on it making his face grow even darker.

Callie quickly explained, "That's a sedative, which is why Kane is unconscious."

To avoid any misunderstandings.

"Did you do this?" Shane asked.

Callie nodded.

Shane raised an eyebrow, almost saying, "Well done."

This woman had truly impressed him. Even while being tied up, she managed to knock someone out!

He thought to himself, no wonder she's a doctor.

She sure has her ways!

He checked Callie, her clothes were intact, showing no signs of assault. However, his anger didn't subside; it only grew stronger. He ordered Henry to have Kane tied up.

Henry immediately had his men take action.

In no time, Kane was bound tightly.

Shane turned to Callie, "Do you want to stay here and watch, or wait for me in the car outside?"

Callie had already guessed what Shane planned to do to Kane. She had no interest in witnessing such violence.

"I'll go outside," she said, turning to leave. She walked slowly, carefully protecting her stomach.

Her stomach felt a bit uncomfortable.

Being a doctor, she knew these were signs of a possible miscarriage.

Her face turned pale.

Seeing something was wrong, Shane asked, "Are you hurt?"

Callie tried to appear composed, shaking her head. "No."

But as she walked out of the room, her face could no longer maintain its facade.

Pain was written all over her expression.

If she lost the baby, she would never forgive Belinda!

Passing through the living room, Callie saw the unconscious bodyguards.

She recognized them; they were Kane's men.

With a cold demeanor, she stepped over them, walked out of the house, and got into the car. Just as she closed the car door, she heard agonizing screams coming from inside the house.

It was Kane's voice, each scream more harrowing than the last.

She had no idea what methods Shane was using!

Callie didn't have time to think about it. She reclined slightly, trying to rest, but dared not make any big movements.

Kane's screams lasted for an hour before Shane finally emerged.

He drove his own car, with Henry still inside.

She couldn't quite understand Shane's actions.

Wasn't he the one who had handed her over to Kane? So why was he angry now?

"Why are you angry?" Callie hesitated for a moment but couldn't help asking out of curiosity.

Shane's heart tightened. When he found out that Kane had taken her away, he was absolutely furious!

He was terrified that something might happen to her!

That kind of worry, that kind of fear, felt like it could swallow him whole!

But he was a proud man. To say, "I was worried about you?”

He couldn't bring himself to say it. He wouldn't allow himself to say it.

"Even though you're my wife in name only, you are still my wife. I told you, if anyone else defiled you, I would be disgusted."

Callie tugged at her lips, giving a self-mocking smile. For a moment, she had thought that Shane might actually care about her, that his anger was a sign of affection.

She had been deluding herself.

How could Shane possibly care about her?

She closed her eyes, exhausted, and tried to rest.

She didn't know when she had fallen asleep.

When she woke up, she was in her own bed.

She got up and looked around; there was no one else in the room.

Pressing her temples, she tried to recall. She remembered being in Shane's car last night. How had she ended up in her bed?

"Ma'am." There was a knock on the door.

"Come in," she said.

Mrs. Ford walked in with a cheerful smile. "I've prepared breakfast. Please get up and eat."

Callie threw off the covers and asked, seemingly casually, "How did I get upstairs last night?"

"Mr. Robinson carried you upstairs," Mrs. Ford said with a knowing look in her eyes. "Have you two made up?"

Callie blinked in confusion. Had they ever been close?

"I've noticed you two seem to be getting along better lately. It's rare for Mr. Robinson to be so patient with someone. You're the first," Mrs. Ford added with a smile.

Callie shrugged it off.

Maybe he just felt a bit of pity after seeing her nearly get bullied by Kane?

"I'm hungry," she said. After a deep sleep, her stomach pain was gone, and she felt much more relaxed.

She needed a good meal and some proper rest.

After washing up and getting dressed, she went downstairs where Mrs. Ford had already set the table. She sat down and began to eat.

Shane wasn't around that morning, so it was just her.

Halfway through her meal, her phone rang. It was a call from a nurse. "Dr. Norris, your mother wants to be discharged."

"I understand," Callie replied.

She quickly finished her breakfast and headed out. Just as she was about to leave, the family driver approached her. "Ma'am, are you going out? Let me drive you."

Before Callie could respond, the driver explained, "Mr. Robinson's orders."

She glanced at the car behind the driver. This time, it was a Rolls-Royce.

She couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. Was this man acting? and enjoying it?

But she didn't have time to ponder. She went straight to the point, "Take me to Renai Hospital."

Upon arriving at the hospital, she headed to her mother's room. Just as she was about to push the door open, she heard Gianna's voice from inside, "Our son with Rafael is already an adult. Why haven't you divorced Rafael yet? What's the point of clinging to a marriage that's already dead? Don't tell me you think Rafael still has feelings for you?"

Gianna let out a mocking laugh, "Do you really think the company is in trouble, and that's why Rafael is forcing your daughter to marry Shane Robinson?"

Standing at the door, Callie froze for a moment. Wasn't that the reason?!!
