Chapter 30 Play something thrilling.
"I want to talk to you," Belinda declared confidently, her voice steady and assured.
Shane glanced at her indifferently and asked, "Need money again? How much this time?"
"I'm not here to ask for money. I'm pregnant, and it's yours," she said, pulling out an ultrasound report and handing it to him.
The report actually belonged to Callie, taken when Belinda performed an amniocentesis on her. However, the name on the report was Belinda's.
Belinda hadn't done the amniocentesis to check if the baby was Shane's. She did it to have something to show Shane.
Shane didn't take the report, but his eyes did glance at it. The dates matched up, but he wasn't going to believe it that easily.
"I know you won't believe me," Belinda said, having come fully prepared. She handed him a container from a cooler, "These are the fetal cells from the amniocentesis. You can have them tested."
Shane's expression finally changed, not to joy, but to a probing look as he studied Belinda.
"I don't know why you've suddenly become so distant, but I swear, I wouldn't lie to you about something like this!" Belinda declared with such conviction that it was hard to find any flaws in her statement.
Henry stepped forward and took the items from her.
"Even if you don't want it, I will still have this baby." With that, Belinda turned and walked away.
She said it on purpose.
She believed that Shane would never abandon his own child!
Henry whispered, "Can we trust her?"
Shane's expression remained cold and indifferent. "Call Gabriel."
Regardless of the truth, he needed to verify it first!
Henry understood.
An hour later, they arrived at the hospital. This kind of test required equipment that could only be found there.
Shane sat in the waiting room, enveloped in darkness.
Henry waited outside the door.
Gabriel was in the lab.
After more than half an hour, Gabriel emerged holding the test results. He looked at Henry and asked, "Whose are these?"
Henry replied, "They're Belinda'."
"Did she and Shane have a relationship?" Gabriel knew that Shane had a special attitude towards Belinda.
However, he wasn't entirely sure about the details.
Henry nodded.
Gabriel was speechless.
"Alright then." He handed the papers to Henry. "Looks like we all need to congratulate him."
Henry quickly glanced at the test results and couldn't help but curse, "Damn it!"
"What happened? Is Shane going to be upset?" Gabriel didn't understand Henry's reaction.
Henry whispered, "I found out he has feelings for Callie Norris, and now Belinda is pregnant. What is he supposed to do?"
Gabriel, knowing that Callie was also pregnant with another man's child, said, "What's so hard about it? Just get a divorce."
He wanted to say, "Do it now, immediately."
Better than letting Shane find out Callie had been unfaithful.
Thinking about it, he realized he had also been unfaithful to Callie.
Were they even?
Henry glanced at Gabriel, thinking, "Easy for you to say!"
He pushed open the door, holding the test results.
The room was dark, with no lights on, shrouded in shadows.
Henry walked over slowly and whispered, "The test results are out."
Shane could hear everything they were discussing outside.
He didn't ask any questions, merely responded with, "I know."
Henry wanted to ask what they should do next, but Shane stood up at that moment.
The door opened, and Shane stepped out. Henry followed closely behind, holding the test report carefully.
Gabriel caught up and added, "You can't just abandon your child. Why not divorce Callie?"
Shane turned to look at him, his gaze sharp. "Are you overstepping your bounds?"
Gabriel immediately fell silent.
On the way back, Henry didn't dare to speak either.
The atmosphere in the car was extremely tense!
When they got home, Shane went upstairs and casually asked, "Is she asleep?"
Mrs. Ford whispered, "The young lady hasn't returned yet."
Shane paused mid-step and glanced at his watch. It was almost nine o'clock, well past the time she should have been home from work. Where could she be?
This woman never knew how to behave!
All she did was infuriate him!
He suddenly turned around and stormed out, his anger visible in every step.
...
After work, Callie took a cab home, but the driver took her somewhere else.
It wasn't until they arrived that she realized the driver had been arranged by Kane.
She had been kidnapped by Kane!
The place was Kane's private residence.
He had her tied up and thrown onto a bed.
Sitting in a chair by the bed, he held a glass of red wine, swirling it as he admired Callie.
"This time, let's see how you plan to escape," he said with a smile.
Callie glared at him. "This is kidnapping! It's illegal!"
Kane chuckled, a satisfied grin on his face. "I know. And you forgot to mention another crime."
Before Callie could react, he continued, "Like, perhaps, rape?"
Callie shuddered in fear.
It was the first time Kane had seen fear on Callie's face.
He leaned in closer. "So, you can be scared after all. I thought you feared nothing and no one."
"Anyone would be scared encountering someone like you, right?" Callie eyed him warily, afraid he might make another move.
Kane saw through her thoughts and chuckled. "Right now, you're like meat on a chopping board, completely at my mercy. Do you understand? You've escaped from me three times already. There's a saying, 'third time's the charm,' but this time, I won't give you any chance to run away again."
He set down his wine glass and stood up from his chair.
He was tall and lean, but not weak.
He took off his casual suit jacket, revealing a white T-shirt underneath. As he seemed about to take off the T-shirt too, Callie truly panicked but tried her best to keep her composure. "I'm Shane's girl. You better let me go quickly."
She had no choice but to bring up Shane.
Kane sneered. "So, Shane is interested in you too. He even lied to me, saying he wouldn't like a woman like you."
Callie froze for a moment. Shane doesn't like a woman like her?
For some reason, she felt a pang of disappointment in her heart.
But it was only for a fleeting moment.
It made sense.
A woman like her indeed wasn't worth liking.
"Letting you go is an option, but not right now," he said with a smile. "Bringing up Shane won't help you. Don't forget, it was him who handed you over to me in the first place. I'm just finishing what I started, so I'm not afraid of Shane causing me trouble."
Callie bit her lip, her eyes filled with despair. How could she forget that this man was after her because of Shane ?
She didn't dare to move recklessly!
Today's check-up results showed signs of a potential miscarriage. She needed to rest well, or she might really lose the baby.
Using Shane was hopeless; she had to find another way.
Forcing herself to stay calm, she said, "I know I can't escape. I accept that. But can you at least untie the ropes?"
Kane refused outright, "No way."
This woman was too cunning; he wasn't going to give her any freedom.
Callie continued, "Do you really find it fun to keep me tied up?"
Kane raised an eyebrow, "And if I untie you, will you cooperate?"
"Yes, if you untie me, I'll cooperate," Callie smiled at him. "After all, you're not ugly, and I'm no innocent maiden."
Kane furrowed his brow slightly. "You..."
"I've been with men before," she said deliberately, hoping to make him disdain her.
However, Kane had grown wiser this time and didn't care at all. "It doesn't matter. I don't mind."
Callie was left speechless. "..."
Kane leaned down, reaching to unbutton Callie's clothes.
Callie trembled all over. "Wait..." "What, scared?" Kane smirked.
Callie shook her head. "No, I have some party pills in my bag. If we're going to do this, let's make it more exciting, shall we?"
