The Shadows in the Mirror

The Shadows in the Mirror

Lena had always been fascinated by the antique mirror that hung in her bedroom. Its intricate carvings and ornate frame seemed to whisper secrets to her every night. But she never thought much of it until she started noticing the shadows.

At first, they were just faint outlines, like dark smudges on the glass. But as the days went by, the shadows grew more defined, taking on shapes that seemed almost human. Lena tried to brush it off as her imagination, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something was watching her from the other side of the mirror.

One night, Lena woke up to find a shadowy figure standing right behind her in the reflection. Its face was twisted into a grotesque grin, and its eyes seemed to bore into her very soul. Lena froze, paralyzed with fear, as the figure began to move closer, its presence filling the room with an unspeakable horror.

The next morning, Lena tried to convince herself it was just a dream. But as she looked into the mirror, she saw the shadowy figure again, its grin still plastered on its face. This time, Lena knew she wasn't dreaming.

As the days went by, the shadows grew bolder, their presence more menacing. Lena started to feel like she was losing her grip on reality. She would see movements out of the corner of her eye, only to turn and find nothing. But when she looked into the mirror, the shadows would be there, watching her, waiting for her.

One night, Lena decided she had had enough. She took down the mirror, intending to get rid of it once and for all. But as she turned it over, she saw something that made her blood run cold. On the back of the mirror, in letters that seemed to be carved into the wood, was a message: "I've been waiting for you."

Lena's scream was drowned out by the sound of shattering glass as the mirror slipped from her hands and crashed to the floor. But as she looked down at the broken pieces, she saw something that made her heart stop. The shadows were still there, crawling out of the glass and spreading across the floor like dark, living things.

And then, everything went black.

When Lena came to, she was lying on the floor, surrounded by the shattered remains of the mirror. But as she looked up, she saw her own reflection staring back at her – with a twisted, shadowy grin superimposed over her face.

The darkness closed in around her, and Lena knew she was forever trapped in the mirror's twisted world of shadows.
