There are verses in the Quran and entries in the Hadiths such as the subject of the question which were specific instructions to Muhammad (PBUH) and Muslims during the period that Muhammad battled for the removal of idols and practice of idolatry around the Kabah. Muhammad and his followers inspired by those verses succeeded in victory in spite limited warfare resources they had.
While those verses are no longer applicable after Muhammad’s mission until nowadays, still, few blindly used them for terrorism for their own interest, where many Muslims are being deceived by their "leaders" misrepresenting that what they are doing (terrorism) is still in accordance with the Holy Quran. They fail to discern that after such victory, the verses are no longer applicable.
