I Tried 5 Sites to make Money, Here’s What Paid and What Scammed Me 💸

Why I Did This?

I needed to raise ₦3M for my school fees so I decided to spend a whole week testing different money-making websites and apps to see which ones are actually worth your time.

If you’ve been searching for legit ways to earn online in Nigeria, save this list. I’ve done the testing for you.

1. Opera News Hub – Paid Me

What it is: Write trending news or stories, get paid per engagement.

My test: I posted a lot of articles on fashion and relationships.

Results: Made ₦5,000 in a week.

Verdict: Works well if you follow trending headlines and post consistently.

2. Moboreader Affiliate – Paid Me

What it is: You promote novels/reels and get a commission for every reader who signs up through your link.

My test: Shared a romantic book link on Threads + TikTok.

Results: $50 in 3 days.

Verdict: Works if you have social media followers or can post consistently.

3.  Jumia/Konga Affiliate – Paid Me

What it is: Promote products, earn commission per sale.

My test: Posted electronics deals link on WhatsApp status.

Results: ₦20,400 in a week.

Verdict: Great if you have a small audience that trusts your recommendations.

4. HunnyMe – SCAM ALERT

What it is: Claims to give you $100 sign-up bonus.

My test: Completed all their “tasks” and referrals.

Results: Never got paid and they have fake stats and impossible withdrawal rules.

Verdict: Avoid because they only want your referrals.

5. CashLoot – SCAM ALERT

What it is: Similar to HunnyMe, promises quick money.

My test: Made “₦90,000” on the dashboard, but I couldn’t withdraw a kobo.

Verdict: Waste of time.

Final Thoughts

Out of 5 platforms, only 3 actually paid me: Opera News Hub, Moboreader Affiliate, and Jumia/Konga Affiliate. The rest were pure scams.

So If you’re serious about making money online in Nigeria:

~ Focus on content writing and affiliate marketing

~Promote products or books people already want

~Avoid anything that sounds “too good to be true” because it usually is
